Are you free? You should come over for a while. You could bring Gin too if he wants an outing. Bean would be happy to have someone to play with today..
[He realises this doesn't give Kaveh much time even if he's already prepared, so he doesn't rush. It takes him around an hour before he's lightly knocking on the architect's door.]
[ Someday, Kaveh will learn not to send "whenever you're ready" messages without actually being ready himself, but that day is not today. Dainsleif's response throws him into a tizzy, a whirlpool of desperation as he rushes around and finishes tidying up, putting food together, fixing his own appearance. All in all, it takes him about 20 minutes—
Which means that, when there's a knock on his door 40 minutes after that, he's had enough time to work himself up into even more of an anxious tizzy.
He tries to look calm, yes, but there's no denying the nervousness edging his features as he opens the door with a slight smile. It's not like they haven't seen each other recently, but this...
Mm, somehow it feels bigger.
He smiles, and steps aside for the other man to come in. ]
Hi. Um, I made food, I hope you're hungry? [ A pause. ] Not too hungry though, it's just snacks.
[Things have been a little strained, though not in the same way that they were when Dainsleif first began things with G'raha. He has been more overt about his intentions here even if they have still failed to talk about it and hasn't left Kaveh hanging too much.
Still, just like before, he finds himself struggling to find the right words to use to express himself. He hopes, at least, that he has not caused Kaveh to think that he is not interested.]
I'm sure it's fine, whatever it is.
[It isn't as if he really needs to eat too much anyway. One of the side effects of his unnaturally extended life. He steps past Kaveh with a small smile.]
[ And perhaps that's the problem. Kaveh knows Dainsleif is interested—at least, he tells himself, he's pretty sure. And he knows for certain that he is interested in Dainsleif. But there are so many reasons to hesitate, so many anxieties that hold him back.
He's trying not to be held back.
Kaveh smiles as the other comes in, closes the door behind him, laughs as Bean immediately rushes up to greet him, having become somewhat used to his presence over the last few months.
And to the question, he shakes his head. ]
No, no. If I'd wanted you to bring something, I'd have said. It just felt weird asking you over and not providing something to eat and drink. You know? Anyway it's just a cheese platter, some fruits and crackers. Wine. Nothing too special.
[ Is he tripping over his own words? A little, yes. ]
[He crouches down to greet Bean and listens to Kaveh's reply, nodding a little in response. That's fine, then. He wouldn't have liked to show up empty-handed if that wasn't expected, though he doesn't think that Kaveh would have judged him for it anyway.
Dainsleif stands, straightens, and brushes a crease or two out of his shirt with entirely unnecessary care.]
Well, then. It seems you've gone to some effort, so let's not linger around the door.
[Straightfoward and to the point, as ever.]
Gin did follow me around half way here, so he may show up soon enough.
[ He smiles to watch Dainsleif crouch down and greet Bean, content to just watch for a moment before the other suggests they actually go into the house. He finds himself, as always, a little flustered by the way the other man talks, but he recovers (he hopes) with relative grace, moving to usher him into the spacious living room. ]
Why don't you take a seat, and I'll go get the drinks and food?
[ Kaveh smiles at him before disappearing into the kitchen to do just that. It won't take him long before he comes back, just enough time for Dainsleif to sit should he choose—and, if he'll allow it, for Bean to promptly put herself in his lap. ]
[And after that, he leaves Kaveh to his business in the kitchen to go and find a seat. He does not mind the presence of Bean on his lap and absent-mindedly pets her once she clambers there, rubbing his fingers gently into the animal's fur.]
I hope that the 'good treats' you spoke of were not prepared only for the cats. [The teasing is gentle, along with a smile.]

[Though, the cat does have a tendency of following him whenever he does go to see Kaveh.]

Um, anyway. I'm here all day, so. Whenever you're ready.
[ Ugh. Could he possibly be any more awkward? ]
